Romana, the second incarnation, is on a jolly with the Doctor and K9 in search of donuts. This is the fourth Doctor, he of the sweet tooth and endless scarf. Landing near a mysteriously successful health farm, they tag along with a current resident who is in definite need of the fat farm.

Alarmingly, they discover a conspiracy against the fatties of the universe and someone intent on universal domination that combines a monstrous ego and size 0 orangi-ness! With attacks by killer seaweed and a whirlpool bath to die for this is a tale that might put you off that next trip to the health Spa.

Read with gusto by Lalla Ward with dramatic intervention by Marcia Ashton as Karna, this audio book is half way to being a two-handed drama. Only the addition of Tom Baker and K9 could increase the loveliness.

This is a great tale from a young writer, Jonathan Morris, who shows an excellent grasp of the essential appeal of the series.

One of a series of four, I was disappointed the budget did not run to K9's own voice but, even without that, the two ladies more than hold their own.
