Another year and another Stargate SG-1 Companion. Unlike previous editions, this one is just based on a single season and by a different writer. I wonder if knowing that season ten was to be the last, would the two have been bonded into one book? No matter, this follows in the tradition of the earlier books with plot synopsises, details behind the scenes and interviews with the cast and members of the crew, chiefly around special effects and stunts this time. The photo section, I'm also smiling about, has taken on board my comments and is more than stock photos of the cast but also includes scenes from the various episodes. There is also a novel trick in having them two-thirds of the way through the book rather the centre.

With UK's Channel 4 no doubt about to show this season in the new year, it gives an interesting perspective to buy this book and watch and read episode by episode to supplement your viewing this year. I should point out the synopsises are a little more complete but hold back on any surprises you're going to get that you haven't read in the media mags already.

By this edition, if you're a Stargate fan and haven't been picking this volumes up by now then you haven't come out of your closet enough yet. For the other fans, you've no doubt been seeing the ads and been eagerly picking this book up. Don't leave it too long or it'll sell out.
