I have to confess that I haven't seen any of the Godzilla films, although I do have a vague memory of the Americanisation of the first one in my youth. Saying that, I do have a taste for listening to soundtracks and when I took the wrapper off of this one, I really had no idea what I was going to listen to.

Wow! Composer Michiru Ohshima has orchestrated a rather remarkable structure of music which is both dynamic and emotional and rich in texture that doesn't even need a film to think it couldn't run unaccompanied in any musical theatre. I'm extremely impressed and would think he would be in the same class as John Williams given material away from his homeland.

Just in case you are a fan of the film 'Godzilla Vs. Megaguirus', I should point out there is an eight page booklet with synopsis and pictures. The last six tracks are the sound effects for Godzilla and. Megaguirus for those of you who love these things. Tracks 27 and 28 are alternative ending themes by Akira Ifukube.

I was very impressed by the overall use of Ohshima's music here and would recommend anyone to have a listen to this CD.
