This book is literally what it says on the cover, a book of fantasy women or to use the vernacular, loads of cheesecake. If nothing else, it indicates the potential market in SF circles this is aimed at, even if these ladies are often invariably armed to the teeth, if wearing little else, to take on monsters and men alike, and not often in that order.

Boris Vallejo built his reputation on his painting of exotic women. He cites his wife, Julie Bell, for empowering the women in his own pictures. Although Vallejo brought Bell up to speed in commercial work, he also thinks she does better animals than himself. Although there are similarities in their work, after all they do similar subject matter, it is often the subtle contrast that makes them stand out. If anything, Bell's work often resembles some of Vallejo's middle and current period having successfully jumped his earlier standards.

If you own all of their work, including the calendars, then there's a distinct possibility that you own a lot of the work included here. Saying that, how many of you prefer to wander through your accumulated calendars than through your artbooks? If the latter, then this is a good time for an upgrade. The few pictures I've included with this review don't do justice to the whole book. Considering both artists have fans of both sexes and there is a little beefcake in here as well, this is the kind of book you want to have on your coffee table when having friends around. If nothing else, it's a great talking point. Don't forget to buy your copy.
